What a set! A trowel and a fork go together like salt and pepper. Complimentary and both extremely useful tools.

This trowel was designed to the specifications of Christopher Lloyd, well-known British garden writer who lived and gardened at Great Dixter (get googling if you've never heard of him!). This was one of his favourite tools for planting and weeding.

The long, narrow blade allows you to dig more deeply in tight spaces and the sturdy design gives you leverage. The rounded tip is sharp and provides a good cutting surface. Lastly, the blade is curved so it will hold more soil when you're scooping it out of the hole.

I’ve used a hori hori as my main weeding tool for a long time so I never really thought I needed a hand fork. Until I went to England and worked at Great Dixter! Lots of gardeners there use them as a weeding tool of choice, but I was most impressed with they way they used them to divide perennials for nursery stock.

The stainless steel tines of the Sneeboer hand fork are strong enough to dig and cultivate soils of all types and conditions. It is important to choose a fork that is strongly made because the tines of poorly-made forks can bend with use, especially if you have heavy clay or compacted soils.
