These ‘double yellow’ GR Pros have the same great basic Japanese design as Okatsune and Tobisho secateurs with the clever locking mechanism at the bottom of the handles.
The lock is deliberate and easy to use, even with only one hand free - with a little practice you can use your pinkie to open the lock and then push the lock against your hip to close it!
The GR Pros can be differentiated from the others by the symmetrically curved handles that fit very comfortably in the palm of your hand and a slightly narrower spread (good for small to mid-sized hands).
The blades are not angled like the Okatsune and Tobisho; they are comparable in length to the Okatsune Standard size and the Tobisho SR-1s but are just a bit lighter.
Blade to handle, they are made from one piece of steel, which means you never have to replace the blades, just clean and sharpen regularly to keep them in good shape.
Niwaki sharpening stones recommended for this model. The steel sharpens easily but they are not suitable for heavy hacking, and definitely not for cutting wire or opening paint cans.
