Playfully nicknamed the baby fork, this is a smaller and lighter version of a full-sized broadfork - a tool most of us didn't know we needed!

This compact tool with 9" tines can be used for tilling, aerating, and cultivating small areas and raised beds. Made from high-strength alloy steel, it's also strong enough to wrassle small rocks out of the ground - but it shouldn't be used to pry out rocks that are bigger than a softball!

It works much like a rototiller, only it's manual and quiet and ergonomic. No backache, no handling and maneuvering an extremely heavy, noisy gas-powered machine. And no fumes!

The beauty of this tool is that instead of bending over and lifting/turning soil, like you do with traditional shovels or digging forks, a broadfork is designed to use your body weight to push the tines into the soil and move them through the layers of the soil. Without the harmful effects of disturbing or damaging soil organisms, or mixing or disturbing different soil layers.

How to Use the Baby Broadfork

The single "t"-handle is attached to a row of steel tines along a crossbar. Like a traditional digging fork, step on the crossbar with one or two feet (as needed) and push it into the ground with your body weight. Once the tines are fully in the ground, step off the crossbar and pull back on the "t"-handle to move the tines through the soil. Lift and reposition.
