Date: Saturday, November 8th
Dahlia fans! Dig in, get your hands dirty and learn how to successfully increase and overwinter your dahlias. Join our dahlia expert, Mayan Vered from Flowerface Farm, as she shares her techniques for lifting, dividing and storing dahlias.
- Workshop A: 12:30-1:30
- Workshop B: 2:30-3:30
Each participant will receive one dahlia clump that has been lifted from the Flowerface Farm and is ready to be divided. Mayan will discuss the merits and techniques of lifting or overwintering dahlias in situ.
You will also receive a pair of ARS Floral Snips (Mayan’s tool of choice for dividing dahlias), a box with vermiculite to store your tubers in, as well as a copy of Mayan’s comprehensive Dahlia Growing Guide.
You will take home all the tubers from your dahlia clump - generally you can expect to get 3-5 tubers from each clump. You can also trade tubers with other participants to increase your dahlia collection!
Workshops will be limited to a maximum of 12 people for each session so please reserve your spot in advance to avoid disappointment.
All workshop participants receive 10% off almost all Gardener's Kit products on the day of the workshop.

About Mayan and Flowerface Farm
Mayan runs Flowerface, a 1-acre cut flower farm on the Sa’anich peninsula, growing a wide variety of specialty cut flowers, foliage, grasses and perennials. Flowerface provides stunning blooms for weddings, events and wholesale markets and conducts workshops throughout the year. In the winter, they offer seasonal wreaths and dried bouquets.
Mayan has been growing cut flowers for 9 years, first in Vancouver and now here on the Island. Dahlia growing has always been a big part of Flowerface and Mayan grows a wide selection of dahlia varieties for her floral work.
