A lawnmower brush - its a thing! This one from Redecker features stiff nylon bristles and an extra long handle to keep your hands away from sharp blades. Use it to clean both the frame and blades of your mower.

For many years my crew worked on a site with a serious boxwood blight situation that we valiantly attempted not to spread around the large site or to other sites. One of the sanitary measures we followed was cleaning the mower immediately after mowing infected areas. The best tool we found at the time was a toilet brush - but this would have been better!

GARDENER'S KIT TIP: Don't restrict this brush to only lawnmower blades, it doubles as a great spade and fork cleaning brush. Bonus, the longer handle allows to you stand upright while brushing soil and mud off of long handles tools.

Bürstenhaus Redecker has been making brushes by hand in Germany since 1935. Founder Friedrich Redecker learned the brushmaker’s trade after losing his sight as a child, eventually building his own small business serving local farmers and households. Three generations later, the family business is still going strong.

Today, Redecker combines traditional brushmaking with thoughtful design and an almost obsessive attention to materials. Natural woods, plant fibres, bristles and hair are chosen for their particular qualities, with synthetic materials used only where they genuinely make sense.
