Barracuda clippers are a bit like a cross between small hedging shears and large secateurs and are used primarily for topiary and boxwood hedging work. This is a one-handed tool that's easy to carry on your tool belt for detailed shaping, finessing tight curves and angles, and light touch-ups.

Unlike topiary clippers, barracudas are tough enough to cut through smaller woody growth. They are a perfect tool for renovating old boxwood or other sheared shrubs.

Same excellent locking mechanism as the secateurs and snips - the clasp at the bottom of the handles is very deliberate and easy to use, even with gloves on, never accidentally engages.

The red and yellow handles are easy to find if you put them down in the garden. But don't! You'll want to keep these safe and sound in the Niwaki long holster.

Made from high quality steel that sharpens easily and holds an edge exceptionally well. It is brittle though so no heavy hacking, cutting wire or opening paint cans with these.

Tobisho pruning tools are the crème de la crème in the Japanese gardening world. They are made in a small family-run factory in Yamagata, an area famous for the quality of its steel. All their tools are drop forged, with great attention to detail - they have incredible weight and balance and are such a pleasure to use!

Tobisho recommends sharpening with the Niwaki sharpening stones. All Tobisho tools come with a spare spring. View the entire Tobisho collection here.
