AVAILABLE FOR PICK-UP IN OUR VICTORIA SHOWROOM
Designed to support clumps of plants that are susceptible to flopping as the flowers develop and get heavy, or that get knocked down during rainfall and/or extremely windy weather.
I like to position flop bars around a plant clump early in the it's growing season - before the plant needs support is the key to success. Your plant should grow up and be supported as it develops.
It is important to know how tall your plant will get and its flowering habit to choose the correct type and height of support. Generally, you want the top of the flop bar to come up 3"-6" below the flowers for clumpers (like peonies or shasta daisies), and about 2/3 of the way up for plants that that put up taller flowering stems.
Simple, unobtrusive design, you can leave these in the ground year-round. Eliminates the need for staking with canes and twine, which is difficult to do well and discretely.
Recommended for: Delphinium, Monkshood, Hollyhocks, Sunflowers, Dahlias, Shasta Daisies, Annabelle Hydrangeas, and many more!
Caveats: If your support is too short, the stems may bend and break over the flop bar. If your plant is taller than the support (once inserted in the ground) or has already flopped to the ground, it is too late!
Available in 1', 2' 3', 4' & 5' Heights
