This is an excellent spade for working in established garden beds - the longer narrow head allows you to get in between plants and dig deeply without damaging neighbouring plants.
The sharp blade glides through the soil “like a hot knife in butter” according the Graeme Bain from Southlands Nursery, and, unlike heavier trenching shovels, it is a versatile and practical tool to use throughout the day because of its smaller profile and lighter weight.
The long handle and step plates minimize the amount of bending required and Sneeboer's excellent construction means it is strong enough to use for a day of digging, dividing and transplanting in confined spaces, but without the same fatigue that would come with using a heavier tool.
Sneeboer tools are beautifully designed and built for maximum strength and utility - the heads are hand-forged from one piece of stainless steel and they are fitted with ash handles from FSC-certified forests. Each tool is individually shaped, assembled, sharpened, and polished by skilled master craftsmen at the Sneeboer factory in The Netherlands. The Sneeboer family has been making garden tools for over 100 years and their tools are designed and constructed to last a lifetime.
