In Japan, this is called a Urame Nokogama sickle (“Urame” means back side, and “Nokogama” means serrated sickle in Japanese). It is unique because it has deep serrations on the back side of the blade designed to ensure long-lasting cutting performance.
Many serrated sickles only have serrations at the tip or shallow serrations, which wear out quickly and limit usage. This sickle has 1cm deep serrations on the back side of the blade.
Sharpen the blade from the front side just like a regular straight-blade sickle, making maintenance simple and efficient. If the serrated section is ever worn beyond the original 1 cm depth (which would take a very long time), the sickle can still be used as a straight-blade tool.
Important Note: The serrated section is slightly less robust than the straight blade. When cutting very tough or woody vegetation, the serrations may wear faster, and some teeth might come off. Over time, as the blade is sharpened extensively, the serrations may gradually reappear, but the sickle remains fully usable even if some teeth are missing.
This sickle is ideal for:

Purchasing Ladders
Ladders can be ordered on our website for pick-up from our Victoria Showroom. Due to the high cost of shipping such large items and the risk of damage during shipping, we do not offer a shipping option.
